Do you experience pain, numbness or weakness in an arm or leg? If yes, you may have a herniated disc. This condition refers to a problem with one of the rubbery cushions (discs) that sit between the bones (vertebrae) that stack to form your spine.
The discs act as buffers between your bones, allowing you to bend and move easily. When there’s a tear or leak in one of these discs, it’s called a herniated disc. While a herniated disc can occur in any part of the spine, it usually occurs in the lower back.
While many people resort to surgery for their disc herniation, we’ve had incredible success at Lifeway Chiropractic and Wellness addressing this condition naturally.
A Recent Case Study
This person had a very classic lifting-with-rotation injury. She went to lift something and didn’t use her legs. As the patient lifted with her back, she rotated her body simultaneously and saw something pop in her low back.
From there on out, the woman had incapacitating low back pain, which ended up radiating down her right leg to the point where she had nagging leg pain. She couldn’t sleep without being in certain positions.
In addition to chiropractic adjustments, Dr. Pam added decompression to the woman’s care plan. Because the patient’s pain was on her right side, we added lateral flexion to the decompression. So it not only tractioned her out and relieved that pressure, but also brought her to the left a little bit, which alleviated that pressure on the right side and relieved her leg symptoms.
The patient experienced relief just after her first treatment, but received consistent care for the first month. That kept her from having to undergo surgery.
